Decrease Pain
Pain is information. It is not the whole story.
The second step of the ADAPT Method is to decrease pain and improve tissue tolerance so your body is ready to rebuild. This does not mean simply masking symptoms or chasing temporary relief. It means creating the right environment for recovery while keeping you as active as possible.
When pain is high, your body protects. Movement changes. Strength drops. Confidence disappears. The goal in this phase is to calm irritation, reduce threat, and create a window where better movement and loading can begin.
HOW WE DECREASE PAIN
Load Modification
We adjust the movements, mileage, exercises, positions, or activities that are currently exceeding your capacity without removing activity unnecessarily.
Targeted Treatment
Sports chiropractic care, manual therapy, soft tissue work, joint mobilization, and decompression may be used when appropriate to improve motion and reduce irritation.
Advanced Therapies
Focused shockwave, radial shockwave, EMTT, and laser therapy may be used to support tissue recovery, improve tolerance, and help stubborn injuries respond.
Functional Range Conditioning
Controlled joint movement, low-level isometrics, and Functional Range Conditioning principles may be used to reduce guarding, improve joint awareness, and restore usable motion without overloading irritated tissue.
Isometrics + Early Loading
In many tendon, joint, and muscle conditions, the right type of loading can help reduce symptoms and begin restoring confidence.
Recovery Strategy
Pain is affected by sleep, stress, training load, nutrition, and recovery. We look at the full system, not just the painful spot.
WHY IT MATTERS
You cannot build on a system that is constantly irritated.
Decreasing pain gives us room to work. It helps restore movement options, improves confidence, and allows the body to tolerate the next phase of the process.
The goal is not just to feel better for a day.
The goal is to create enough calm and capacity to start building again.
