A hip hinge with most of the weight on the front leg and the back toes down for balance. It builds single leg hamstring and glute strength for runners before the full single leg deadlift.

How to do it

Stand with the back foot's toes on the floor just behind and beside the front heel, holding the kettlebell in the hand opposite the front leg. Hinge at the hip and lower the bell along the front shin, keeping a long spine. Stand tall by driving the front hip forward.

Common mistake

Pushing off the back foot as if it were a second leg. It is only a kickstand, so keep the weight on the front leg and the hips square. If the hips rotate open or you feel it in the low back, reduce the range.
